All Yoga can be therapeutic, but not all people have the ability to practice yoga in the form that it is taught in most public classes. An individual that is not well informed about yoga can easily end up in the wrong class and create more issues rather than find a source for self-healing as they intended. In Yoga Therapy sessions, the class or sequence is modified to fit the student (or specific population), not vice versa. Modification within a group class setting is not the same as Yoga Therapy. Yoga therapy is student-centered; the teaching is designed around the specific challenges and strengths that the client brings to the mat.

Example: A 25-year-old professional dancer with hypermobility syndrome, chronic low back pain, and a anxiety disorder, has very different therapeutic (physical and emotional) needs than a slightly overweight, 57-year-old accountant with high blood pressure, and sugar addiction. Accordingly, their Yoga Therapy programs would be very different.

We offer private Yoga Therapy sessions, drawing from evidence based practices, completely tailored to the individual. The sessions are intended to empower individuals to find their own path of self-healing. We also offer small therapeutic classes (called “clinics”) that target a specific population that face similar challenges/conditions.
